Harvesting Date and Yield Prediction System in Iceberg Lettuce Production

Lettuce is Taiwan’s second-largest export vegetable industry, but the difference in the number of growing days of head lettuce in different seasons is nearly double. Therefore, it is not easy to estimate the appropriate planting date, area, and output to accurately supply the needs of the export market, which often leads to inaccurate production schedules, which in turn increases the resource consumption and labor costs. The data analysis of the lettuce production prediction system was established by the production records provided by the demonstration farm. The operation of the system requires the import of temperature prediction data after planting and the historical record data of daily radiation accumulation. To update and correct the daily forecast value it is necessary to add the temperature and cumulative daily radiation record data during the growth period after planting for calculation and analysis. This prediction model has been verified for two years and has been successfully built and authorized for industrial applications.
